Boeing Laser and Electro-Optical Systems (LEOS) in Albuquerque, New Mexico is looking for highly skilled and adaptable mechanical engineers to perform design, analysis and test of precision electro-optical systems. Engineer would work as part of a multi-disciplinary team supporting the development of both directed energy and electro-optical systems. The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer position (Level 5) will lead the development and documentation of mechanical and fluid system and thermal environment requirements to establish the system design. This position will lead and supports system components' designs/proposals standards to provide installation and detail documentation. Ideal candidates will lead the charge in the development, maintenance or modification of system, component and installation designs/proposals to provide design documentation to downstream groups. Candidate will perform and analyze documents to validate and verify systems and components to meet requirements and specifications. Supplier development, test and production activities and directs the supplier to optimize integration and achieve program are among daily goals.  This position is located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.  Basic relocation is available for internal candidates. Primary Responsibilities: Directs the development and documentation of large scale, complex mechanical and fluid system and thermal environment requirements to establish the system design. Develops new design/analysis processes and tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort. Directs emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements. Consults for disposition, corrective actions and coordination with cross-functional groups to identify/implement solutions and drive strategic improvements relative to production processes. Coaches and mentors others. Works under consultative direction. This position requires the ability to obtain U.S. Security Clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.   Typical Education & Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience): Experience with Electro Optical Engineering. Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Experience with opto-mechanical design. Experience with electro-optic systems. Experience with mechanical and system integration. Experience with Solid Works, NX, FEMAP, Teamcenter or Windchill, and industry standard CAD and FEA tools. An active Top Secret or DOE Q clearance is highly desired.
