The Boeing Defense, Space and Security is seeking an
Experienced Manufacturing Engineer - Solar Panel/Array Process Engineer
Sylmar, CA. The selected candidate will be working in 2nd Shift.

As a member of our
team, you will have the opportunity to work on projects covering the entire range of Spectrolab’s products: everything from large and small solar panels and arrays for a variety of space applications to photolithography tooling used to fabricate the world’s most efficient space solar cells to airborne searchlight, gimbal systems and ground-based high-intensity illuminated test systems. You will also have the opportunity to directly contribute to development programs and to help shape our next-generation improvements in product, process and tooling design.
Develops and implements production and tooling methodologies.
Participates on Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to integrate technical solutions across multiple disciplines.
Develops, identifies and implements conceptual designs and maintains the program architecture for build.
Leads and implements manufacturing plans.
Conducts producibility and variation analyses to ensure that manufacturing process capability matches requirements.
Assists in providing producibility information for inclusion in project plans and helps document producibility best practices.
Analyzes design/build concepts to evaluate producible design/build definitions.
Resolves technical problems of significant impact to performance, cost or schedule.
Coordinates and implements new engineering principles, theories, advanced technologies and concepts.
Validates and ensures production readiness of solutions to complex problems. Implements lean principles and technologies.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Degree Required: BS or Equivalent in Engineering
Must have 5 years of experience in manufacturing experiences (process development and improvement)
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Database development (SQL preferred).
Factory Automation experience.
Maintaining production procedure and documentation.
General Array Integration and Test operations support.
As process trainer (maintain training record).
Leads or participate in LEAN events (AIW, 3P etc.).
Leads RCCA investigation.
Typical Education/ Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
This position is does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
